Our Mission


Mission Statement

The National Association for Professional Special Education Advocates, (NAPSEA), is dedicated to promoting the rights of children and young adults with disabilities by increasing the knowledge of parents, raising the awareness of disability rights and setting the standards of professional special education advocacy. We do this by providing resources, information, professional development, and networking to share ideas and information.


Our Vision

For every child to have the opportunity for a meaningful educational experience with the supports and services necessary for the child to receive a free and appropriate public education (FAPE).


Our Purpose

The purpose of NAPSEA is to:

  • Increase the quality of professionalism of special education advocates by requiring compliance with a Code of Ethics and Professional Standards.
  • Provide information, resources, and trainings to support the endeavors of professional special education advocates and parents, in advocating for services and support for children with disabilities throughout the country. 
  • Provide an interactive community where advocates, parents, and other related professionals can share information about special education and disabilities.
  •  Work towards a national credential and certification program for professional special education advocates.
  • Establish a fully accessible and comprehensive database of special education advocates and resources for both parents and professionals.
  • Make available information regarding both Federal and State legislation, which directly affect children and young adults with disabilities within education.
  • Collaborate with related State and Federal organizations to accomplish our mission, vision, and purpose.
